15. July 2017 / 05:00 hrs - Kick Off for the Extreme Distance

Since 20 years the Salzkammergut Trophy becomes more and more popular. In 1998 about 200 participants had registered on the three distances.  20 hardboiled bikers tackled the extreme distance; only half of them crossed the finishing line. Just like back then “kick off for the extreme distance” will be already at 05:00 am on the 15th of July 2017. Europe’s toughest Bike Marathon: more than 900 adrenalin junkies from more than 40 nations can’t wait to beat incredible 210.2 km and 7.119 meters altitude change.

So far for the Jubilee Trophy – Gerhard Katzmayer, Gerrit Glomser, Stefan Danowski, Juarez Tinker, Thomas Hödlmoser, Willi Vorderderfler and Stefan Kogler – who are the winners of the years 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006 have already signed up. All seven old stars as well as Anita Krenn (winner of 2003) and Anita Waiß (winner of 2005 and 2007) will tackle once more the extreme distance excepting not just a top position within their age group.

Get your Trophy Finisher-Jersey for the 20th Jubilee

So in the last couple of years you managed to tackle the B course with more than 120 km within 9 hours? Well how about facing a new challenge and registering this time for the extreme distance! The increasing numbers of finisher prove that you can pull it off!! In the early years the dropout rate was between 50 -60 % - last year 73 % bikers were rated.

Once more, RAAM experienced Gerhard Gulewicz will be the Pacemaker assisting you to cross the finishing line. Gerhard’s intention is to bike the race with a constant load and thereby meeting all the time limits requirements when passing the finishing line in Bad Goisern shortly after 09:00 pm. Numerous of cheering  fans along the race track will push you to top performance. This way the 210 km with more than 7.000 altitude change are somewhat easier manageable within the 16 hours.  However, for those who have to quit at the 152 km or 175 km checkpoints, still have pushed their personal performance limit significantly and gained great new experience.

By the way for the 20 years anniversary all extreme distance conquers receive exclusively a Löffler bike Jersey in Trophy-Design 2017! Just do it!
SCOTT Junior Trophy on Sunday

SCOTT Junior Trophy
on Sunday

On July 16th, the final day of the Trophy weekend, the SCOTT Junior Trophy contests are taking place. Start and finish will be just like on the previous day the Marktplatz in Bad Goisern. The crowd and atmosphere is just as enthusiastic as during the marathons. The youngsters fight some thrilling duels and action-packed final sprints!!!

The diverse circuit is technically not too difficult, still perfect for skilled and ambitious youngsters born between 2003 and 2013. Rating will be done in the Grand-Prix-Mode. As soon as the first biker crosses the finishing line the outstripped bikers may not continue to the next round anymore. The best three of the categories U7, U9, U11, U13 and U15 will be awarded with trophies. The age group U17 will start already on Saturday on the shortest marathon course with 22.1 km.

The since last year’s new Parcours-contest is great for children and teens between age three and 14. The classification in the various categories is not according to the age but rather to the wheel seize! All participants receive as souvenir the popular Trophy-Shirt as well as the ginger bread medal.
